Welcome Heidi Hayes Jacobs
Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs, Executive Director of the Curriculum Mapping Institute and President of Curriculum Designers, Inc., has worked with thousands of K-12 schools nationally and internationally on issues and practices pertaining to: curriculum reform, assessment analysis and strategic planning. She serves as an adjunct associate professor at the Department of Curriculum and Teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University, NYC. Dr. Jacobs has worked with such programs as: the College Board, PBS Teacherline, the Discovery Channel, Childrens Television Workshop, CBS National Sunrise Semester, ASCD, The Kennedy Center, the Near East School Association, East Asian Council of Overseas Schools, the International Baccalaureate, and the European Council of International Schools. ASCD has two video series focusing on Dr. Jacobs curriculum models. In addition, Video Journal of Education features a series on her work, including Aurora Awards platinum award winning Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening Across the Curriculum video series.
Dr. Jacobs received a doctorate from Columbia University's Teachers College in 1981. Her M.A. is from the University of Massachusetts and her undergraduate degree is from the University of Utah. The backbone of Dr. Jacobs experience comes from her years as a teacher of high school, junior high school, and elementary children in Utah, Massachusetts, and New York.
Dr. Jacobs publications include Interdisciplinary Curriculum: Design and Implementation, and Mapping the Big Picture: Integrating Curriculum and Assessment K-12, both published by ASCD, have been bestsellers. Her book Getting Results With Curriculum Mapping was released in November of 2004 by ASCD. Dr. Jacobs' new book, Active Literacy K-12: Cross-disciplinary Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening in Every Classroom was released in April 2006 by Eye-on-Education, Inc.
